Transfer between Istanbul Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen Airport

Istanbul Ataturk Airport is the main gateway of international travelers in Turkey and most of the international flights use it as their main base. Smaller portion of international flights use Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport as well. You might be asking; “I have landed on Ataturk Airport but my Pamukkale / Denizli flight takes off at Sabiha Gokcen Airport. How do I get there?” It’s a great question and it’s important to know before you make your travel plans.

So, you have landed on Istanbul Ataturk Airport. But let’s say, you bought a Pegasus Airlines ticket to get to Denizli, and their flights take off at Sabiha Gokcen Airport. The first thing you should know is that, Istanbul Ataturk Airport is on the European side of Istanbul. On the other hand, Sabiha Gokcen Airport is on the Asian side of Istanbul. The distance between them is about 70 km. And unfortunately, there’s no direct shuttle or bus connection between them.

However you have a couple of options:

havatas-logoHavatas is a passenger transportation service between Istanbul airports and downtown.  It has connections to both airports but not direct connection between two airports. After you land on either one of the airports, you can take Havatas shuttle and it will take you Taksim. Once you get Taksim, you can take another Havatas shuttle and go either to Ataturk Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport, depending on where you want to go. So basically, if you land on Istanbul Ataturk Airport, take Havatas shuttle and go to Taksim. After you get to Taksim, take a different Havatas shuttle from there that goes to Sabiha Gokcen Airport. So basically you need be changing your shuttle at Taksim and be taking two Havatas buses to arrive your airport.

To get from Ataturk Airport to Taksim takes approximately 40 minutes. Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Taksim is approximately 1.5 hours. Of course, these times may change depending on traffic. Havatas shuttles will take of every 30 minutes and one Havatas ride costs 10 TL, and it’s a good price considering how far it will take you.

You can visit their website to get further information.

Alan Transfer is a company that serves in many airports in Turkey and also in international destinations. Their services include transfers between two airports in Istanbul. You should make a reservation before your arrival and one of their vehicles will be there waiting for you. There are couple of vehicles that you can choose depending on how many people you are travelling with. You can take a shuttle that costs 59 TL per person. If you are traveling with no more than 3 people in total, you can book a sedan car that costs 150 TL. If you come with a large group, you can book a minibus that will get up to 13 people. You can find detailed information at

You can always take a taxi from Ataturk Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport and go to your destination directly. Since both airlines are really far from each other, taking a taxi may be a little pricey. You can take a look at here for an approximate of how much you could be charged if you take a cab.

Getting around between two airports may cost you extra money and you may lose time in Istanbul traffic. So, before you purchase your tickets, look at the airports you are landing on and figure out which one is going to be more convenient for you. For example, if you land on Istanbul Ataturk Airport, try to fly with Turkish Airlines since they fly from Ataturk Airport to Denizli. If you land on Sabiha Gokcen Airport, try to go with either Borajet Airlines or Pegasus Airlines since they both use Sabiha Gokcen Airport for their Denizli flights.
